We all know that water is a calorie free drink, which is extremely essential for our body. but water plays an important role in weight loss too.
As soon as we drink water, our Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) increases within one hour. So instead of drinking water at one go, drink small amounts throughout the day, this will help to keep your metabolism fast. Thats why its one of the Best Metabolism boosting food.
According to some studies, ½ liter normal water burns around 23 calories. It means that if you drink 1 liter of extra water during the day then you can burn 48 extra calories.
But it does not mean that you increase the intake of water, because it also has side effects, about which we will talk soon.
To lose weight, drinking 1 glass of water before a main meal helps a lot. It helps us to intake fewer calories which help in weight loss.
Also, if we stay hydrated throughout the day, meaning that we keep on drinking water regularly then we would not crave for soft drinks or any other sugary drinks, especially during summer. And we all know that these sugary drinks work towards increasing our body weight.
This was about how water helps in losing weight. Now let us talk about how much water to drink for weight loss.
Well, every person has a different requirement, such as 1 to 2 liters normally. But for losing weight, experts recommend drinking 2-3 liters of water, or drinking 2 liters at the least. But also remember, we consume water through tea, green tea, detox water, vegetable juices and fruits, so consider them to count your water intake as well.
Now the main thing is, when is the best time to drink water?
As we talked earlier, drinking small amounts of water throughout the day can help in proper functioning of the body and drinking 1 glass of water before your main meal helps in better weight loss.
Also, drinking ½ cup of hot water after eating can help in proper digestion and less storage of fat.
And drinking one glass of hot water in the morning helps in detoxification of the body and helps in improvement of bowel movement, which helps us feel fresh and is really necessary for weight loss.
But do not think that drinking very high amount of water can lead to more weight loss. Drinking too much water can cause side effects. From stomach ache to liver or negative effects to heart can occur. So do not drink more than 2 to 3 liters in a day.
And as I always say, no single or particular food or exercise can help in weight loss. Your weight loss will depend on proper diet, exercise and a number of small changes in your lifestyle. And extra water intake is also a small lifestyle change. So follow a proper diet.
